This is my musical adaptation of George Orwell's 1984. It's really just a musical book report, probably with Jim Morrison as the imagined narrator. I think I always imagined it as a really loud song, but the walls were thin at home and I wasn't allowed to play very loud in my bedroom.
lyrics
I saw a funny thing today upon the telescreen
I must be careful not to laugh because I know he’s watching
It’s always been this way, I can’t remember ever being free
I cannot hear what you are saying
Are you using Newspeak?
Thoughtcrime is what I’m guilty of
Cause 2 and 2 to Minitrue
Makes 5
Sometimes we dream about a place where I can go and not be heard
I’ll take her with me when I go and I don’t care who follows
For now I’ll break no laws and travel where the elders drink & die
Someone has changed the story; once again they are the heroes.
Thoughtcrime is what I’m guilty of
Cause 2 and 2 to Minitrue
Makes 5
Freedom or lack thereof
We are not free
Thoughts receding to happier times
We are not free
It is time to question our very existence when our very existence is questioned
We are not free
Thoughtcrime is what I’m guilty of
Cause 2 and 2 to Minitrue
Makes 5
